My Story

Hello, I am Wendy Grant of Lakeside Quilting Studio. My family and I live in beautiful south-central Kentucky, home of Lake Cumberland, a premier vacation spot and one of the largest man-made lakes in the US!

My quilting journey began with a vague idea to finish quilt tops for my daughters pieced by their great-grandmother…on my grandmother’s Singer sewing machine! Fearing I would mess up the treasured tops, my daughter and I decided to create our own quilt first (a practice run!)…she picked the fabric and I did the design, cutting, piecing, and quilting! She got the prize of our first finished quilt and I got the prize of a newfound hobby! Fast forward and not only has my love of quilting grown but so has the size of my machine! My daughter still helps pick out fabric and recommends designs…..and I still do most of the work!

My favorite part of making quilts is the creativity. We may begin with the same fabric, pattern or quilting design but the end result will be one-of-a-kind. Like each of us, every quilt is unique and influenced by the vision of the one who creates it. We all have creativity inside us waiting to express itself through color, fabric and design.
